At 2:00 this Thursday, the Federal Reserve will publish the seventh Beige Book this year. This Beige Book will reveal changes in employment and inflation in the 12 Federal Reserve districts of the United States from September 3 to the present. On October 3, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released the September non-farm employment report, which showed that the number of new non-farm jobs was 50,000. Although it was higher than the previous value of 22,000, it was still at a relatively low level in history. The non-farm payrolls report overlaps with the Beige Book survey, so the description of the job market in the Beige Book is expected to be equally pessimistic. The annual U.S. CPI rate for September will be released on October 24, later than when the Beige Book is released. Therefore, the focus of this Thursday’s Beige Book is the physical changes in the twelve reserve areas. If prices remain low, the Fed's interest rate cut policy is likely to continue, and the U.S. dollar index may be negatively impacted.

The topic of this speech is: Macroeconomic Outlook and Federal Reserve Monetary Policy. The venue is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Any speech by Powell will cause a violent reaction from the market, especially when the speech involves monetary policy, and this speech is no exception. Considering that the non-farm payrolls report in September was poor, the one-year inflation expectation in October dropped from 4.7% to 4.6%, and the key economic data performed poorly, Powell's speech may be dovish or increase expectations for an interest rate cut, and the dollar may be affected.

On Monday, OPEC will release its monthly crude oil market report; on Tuesday, the International Energy Agency IEA will also release its monthly crude oil market report. OPEC and IEA are the two major authoritative institutions in the crude oil market. They publish key reports together, which may have an impact on international oil prices.
